Is This Programme Right For Your Child?

Does Any Of This
Sound Familiar?

  • My child understands maths in class but struggles to apply it in exams.
  • My child is capable of achieving higher grades than they are currently achieving.
  • My child lacks confidence in certain topics.
  • My child has gaps in their understanding that may become a problem in Year 11.
  • I want my child to start Year 11 ahead rather than catching up.
  • I want my child to achieve their full potential in IGCSE Mathematics.
If so, this programme was designed for them.

The Transition That Defines IGCSE Performance

Why the Year 10 to Year 11
Transition Matters

Most students enter Year 11 believing they are ready. In our experience, most are not — not because of ability, but because of hidden gaps that Year 10 left unresolved. Year 11 is the year those gaps either get fixed or cost grades.

The Problem

Hidden Gaps From Year 10

Most students enter Year 11 with knowledge gaps they are not aware of. Topics half-understood in class, concepts never fully revisited, and exam techniques never properly practised. These gaps do not disappear on their own.

The Challenge

Year 11 Asks Three Things At Once

Students who wait until Year 11 face an impossible workload: learning new content, fixing old weaknesses, and preparing for examinations simultaneously. There simply is not enough time to do all three well.

The Opportunity

The Summer Is the Ideal Window

Before Year 11 begins, there is a window — six weeks — to close the most critical gaps, build confidence in the topics that matter most, and enter September already ahead of where most students will be.

The Advantage

Preparation Creates a Compound Effect

Students who address gaps before Year 11 starts can focus their energy on exam performance rather than remediation. Confidence builds faster. Progress accelerates. The grade target becomes reachable, not theoretical.

Students who prepare before Year 11 begins gain a significant advantage — not just academically, but in the confidence and self-belief that carries through every lesson, every practice paper, and the final exam itself.

The Architecture Behind Sigma

A System Built on 20 Years of
Educational Leadership and Research.

The Sigma 6E Method™ was not designed by a tutoring platform. It was built by Andy — an educator with over two decades of experience across UK and international schools as a teacher, Vice Principal, and School Improvement Consultant.

Drawing on classroom practice, educational research, online tutoring experience, and examiner insight, Andy designed a framework that delivers the same teaching standard in every Sigma lesson — regardless of topic, tutor, or cohort. The system is the constant. The results follow from the system.

Every Sigma educator is trained in the 6E Method and held to the same standard. This is not a platform where tutor quality varies. It is a specialist education company where the methodology is non-negotiable.

Right For Your Child If…

Who This Programme
Is Designed For

This is not a general maths course. It is a focused six-week transition programme built specifically for students finishing Year 10 and entering Year 11 who want to close gaps, build confidence, and start their most important school year ahead of the curve.

Student Profile 01

The Student With Hidden Gaps

Your child keeps up in class but underperforms in tests and exams. The foundations are there — but there are gaps that haven't been identified or addressed. Year 11 will expose them unless they're closed now.

Student Profile 02

The Student Who Lacks Confidence

Your child is capable of more than their current grades suggest. They may avoid certain topics, second-guess themselves in exams, or feel anxious about maths. Confidence built before Year 11 compounds across the whole year.

Student Profile 03

The Student Who Wants to Get Ahead

Your child is motivated and wants to enter Year 11 in the strongest possible position. This programme gives them a structured head start — not remediation, but preparation and advantage.

What Your Child Will Cover

6-Week Curriculum
Roadmap

Every week targets a specific cluster of IGCSE topics — chosen because they carry the most marks, cause the most confusion, and are the most likely to appear in Cambridge and Edexcel examinations.

Week 1

Algebra Survival Skills

Equations, rearranging formulae, substitution, and algebraic manipulation. The foundation everything else builds on.

Week 2

Ratio & Percentage Problem Solving

Ratio, proportion, percentage change, reverse percentages, and the wordy multi-step problems that trip students up in exams.

Week 3

Accuracy, Bounds & Standard Form

Rounding, significant figures, error intervals, upper and lower bounds, and standard form — topics students frequently lose marks on.

Week 4

Geometry & Trigonometry Essentials

Angles, area, Pythagoras, trigonometry (SOH CAH TOA), and the geometry reasoning questions examiners love to set.

Week 5

Data, Probability & Sets

Histograms, cumulative frequency, box plots, probability trees, Venn diagrams and set notation. High-mark topics, often under-prepared.

Week 6

Year 11 Readiness Challenge

A full mixed-topic past paper session using Cambridge and Edexcel exam material, with examiner-informed feedback and a personal readiness summary.

Included In Every Programme

Weekly Maths Support Clinic
Taught By A Senior Sigma Tutor

This is not a second taught lesson

Every student on the programme has access to a one-hour live support session held every Saturday. The Maths Support Clinic is a space for questions, clarification, and guidance — not for teaching new content.

Students attend when they need support — flexible, not mandatory every week
Students bring questions from Wednesday lessons, practice tasks, schoolwork, or past papers
A Senior Sigma Tutor answers each question live, directly, turn by turn
Purpose: clarification and guidance only — no new content is introduced in this session
"Andy has essentially taken the guesswork out of what is required for our son to achieve good results. He quickly built an easy learning relationship and has been flexible around his needs. Andy has provided confidence for us all."
Pauline — Mother of Mitch

The Sigma Difference

Research-Led Teaching.
Not Generic Tutoring.

Sigma is a specialist education company — not a tutoring marketplace. Every session follows the same research-led framework. Every piece of feedback is informed by Cambridge and Pearson examiner reports. The methodology is non-negotiable.

Generic Tutoring
  • Random topics based on this week's homework
  • No structure, no progression plan
  • Parents left completely in the dark
  • Always catching up, never getting ahead
  • Memorising methods without understanding them
The Sigma System
  • Research-led 6E Method™ applied in every single lesson
  • Examiner insight built in — mark-loss analysis every session
  • Structured curriculum pathway aligned to exam board and date
  • Regular written progress reports for parents
  • Students average +1.4 grade improvement

Our Competitive Edge

Most Tutors Teach the Syllabus.
Sigma Teaches to the Examiner.

Every Sigma lesson is informed by Cambridge and Pearson examiner reports — the official documents that reveal exactly where students lose marks, which misconceptions come up year after year, and what examiners are actually looking for when they award full marks.

That knowledge is built into every lesson plan, every past-paper session, and every piece of feedback your child receives.

Examiner Report Analysis

Recurring mark-loss patterns built into lesson content every cycle.

Misconception Mapping

Sigma targets recurring student errors proactively — before exam day.

Mark Scheme Literacy

Students learn the exact language that earns full marks from examiners.

Exam Technique by Question Type

Wordy questions, multi-step problems, show-that proofs — all covered.

Our Framework

Every Sigma Lesson Follows
One Framework. Every Time.

The Sigma 6E Method™ is a research-led teaching framework refined over 20 years in UK and international schools. It takes what the research shows actually moves students forward and locks it into a consistent sequence applied every single session.

E1

Evoke

Before anything new is taught, we surface what your child already knows. This prevents new concepts being built on shaky foundations.

E2

Explain

Every concept is taught clearly, step by step, with no gaps and no assumptions. Your child won't sit quietly not understanding while the lesson moves on.

E3

Engage

Peer discussion deepens understanding in a way passive note-taking never does. Your child works through problems with others until they genuinely click.

E4

Execute

Independent practice, every session. By exam time, working through problems alone is normal — not nerve-wracking.

E5

Examine

Real Cambridge and Edexcel past papers every lesson — informed by examiner reports and mark-loss analysis. Your child learns exactly where marks are dropped.

E6

Empower

We build the self-regulation that makes the difference on exam day. Time management, checking work, keeping composure — built in, every lesson.

How We Teach

Why Small Groups
Outperform 1-to-1 Tutoring

Many parents assume one-to-one is always better. In our experience, a well-curated small group consistently outperforms solo sessions — because the group is part of the methodology, not a compromise. Maximum 10 students. Matched by exam board, attainment level, and timezone.

01

Peer Learning Accelerates Understanding

When your child hears a classmate ask a question they hadn't thought to ask, it deepens their own understanding in a way solo sessions cannot replicate.

02

Group Momentum Builds Exam Stamina

Shared progress and mutual accountability keeps students engaged across a full programme in a way individual sessions rarely sustain.

03

Every Student Is Deliberately Placed

Cohorts are matched by exam board, attainment level, and timezone. Your child is never in a group that moves too fast or too slow for them.
